A Downtown Wilmington, North Carolina Romantic Engagement Session at the Riverwalk
If you have been following for any amount of time, you know that Wilmington, North Carolina truly seems to be my home away from home. (Maybe we will move there one day haha) I love that most of my weddings + engagement sessions always call me back to Wilmington because it truly is a dream city….and this session proves just that!
Abby + Conner’s engagement session was nothing less than something that looks like it popped right out of a story book. I’m not exactly sure who ordered the most perfect sunset light over the east coast ocean, PLUS the most down-to-earth couple….but I would appreciate it if you didn’t stop :)
When we were talking about locations for their session, Abby suggested the place where it all started! Conner had proposed to her at St. James Episcopal Parish in the heart of downtown, and that’s where she wanted some of her photos! I love photographing at this church because it is ABSOLUTLEY beautiful! There is so many ways to use fun composition to get beautiful images. Abby + Conner are so soft spoken and go-with-the-flow that this location worked perfectly for them. It was tucked away and was the perfect place to let their soft side shine.
Wilmington means so much to them as a couple, so we had to make sure we used the most iconic part of it, the downtown riverwalk! I don’t think there is a place in Wilmington I have photographed at that has disappointed. The light is always perfect, everywhere. Maybe it’s the ocean air that makes it a little more special :)
We got so lucky with the weather this day. In the heat of NC summer, you either get 2 things: Rain everyday OR very hot, muggy weather. We rescheduled once due to constant rain and storms, and I’m so happy we did. The weather we got this day was better than something I would have ordered. We had the best breeze, good shade, warm..but not hot temps, and THE MOST beautiful, and glowy sunset. Does it even get any better than that here in June? I really don’t think so!
Abby + Conner do nothing but shine and radiate pure joy when they are together…so if you see any “model shot” images below, just know they busted out laughing right after! It was truly such an honor to follow their love with my camera and get to know them more. They are such a dream. Dream location. Dream weather. Dream outfits. Dream personalities….and as a wedding photographer, there is nothing more I can ask for!!
Enjoy seeing some of my favorites from our evening below! If you ever need a city to do your engagement photos in, I will always highly recommend Wilmington, NC. Mainly to give me a reason to go back :) BUT also because it is so versatile! From charming cobble stone streets to the scenic views of the riverwalk, to peaceful beaches nearby…it truly does offer endless locations and beautiful backdrops for photos!
