A Fort Fisher, North Carolina Sunrise Engagement Session

I truly can’t believe the time has come that Cailtin + Jesse are finally behind my camera as an engaged couple!!!! We have this running joke at every wedding I see them at I always say “ One day I’m going to photograph your wedding day”…..AND THE TIME HAS COME :)

TRUE STORY!!!! I have known Caitlin for quite some time now, as I photographed her sister’s wedding a few years ago, and she has been a bridesmaid in a handful of other weddings I photographed, and then guests at others! I’m actually going to miss bumping into her at weddings and saying to her and Jesse that I’m going to be there for their own wedding day ONE DAY. Now I will get to change it to saying all of my favorite things that will happen at their own coming soon in September!

When Caitlin reached out to me when Jesse finally proposed and asked if I was available on the day they chose, I actually don’t think I have said YES quicker in my entire life without looking at my calendar haha!! I didn’t know what I had planned that day (thankfully it was nothing :) )but it all would have been moved to a different day because I truly couldn’t imagine not being there for them on their wedding day! I love when I meet people through past brides and they just become great friends that I see over and over through other wedding days, it just makes it so much more fun when I show up for their own. I’m less of another vendor showing up for a job and more like another guest at the party!

Caitlin originally wanted her engagement session to be at the venue they are getting married at. which I was 100% down for being its BEAUTIFUL! But life happened and we didn’t end up shooting there, and so she chose Fort Fisher instead….and can I say IM SO HAPPY we did! I chose to try a sunrise shoot instead of sunset for 2 reasons: Both of our work schedules, and the TEMPSSSS in North Carolina in the summer. The high this day was actually 105, and I’m so thankful we did it in the morning before it reached that!

I knew that choosing to do it at the beach on the 4th of July was a RSIKYY move, because lets be real everybody goes to the beach for the 4th of July, so I knew that we had to be early, and be quick hahaha!!

EVERYTHING worked in our favor! The weather was perfect. Not too hot yet. Not too much wind (especially for the beach). The light was PERFECT. And the people actually held off until we were done! We made a joke at one point right before we wrapped up that we could see lines of cars pouring into the parking lot for the day and we were like “THE CALVARY IS COMINGGGG” LOL so we knew it was time to finish up.

I CANNOT WAIT for Caitlin + Jesses wedding day! If it goes anything like this engagement session I know it really is going to be the best day ever! These 2 are just meant for each other. They are so go with the flow, easy to work with and a TRUE Sam Wynn Couple!
